Bring your child’s imagination to life with imagistory! A creative storytelling app that encourages anyone to be the storyteller, no matter what your age or language.
Designed for children aged 3 and up, the idea behind the app is simple, using wordless picture books it’s up to you and your child to use your imaginations to create a story with the pictures. The stories you create are recorded and saved so you can listen to them again later and share them with loved ones.
Imagistory provides an entirely new reading experience, not only is it very fun and easy to use, it’s also highly educational! Helping foster creativity, imagination and to develop language and early literacy skills.
The open nature of wordless picture books gives them a huge variety of potential uses, making them great tools for the class room too.
Kids have the wildest imaginations and are already natural storytellers, so help them discover this and unleash their storytelling potential.
This is a truly beautiful app which is a worthy addition to every family, pre-school and primary school device. Designed and developed in NZ this is a quality production with easy navigation and includes a parental guide to the use of wordless picture books for extending children’s vocabulary and imagination. I shared the first story with a class of six-year-olds and their teacher via Apple TV to a big screen. The children created their own dialogue for the story which we recorded and played back. The children loved hearing themselves. It’s quite a challenge making up a story and the guide with this app is very useful. The option to pause when recording enables teachers or parents to offer guidance without interfering with the children’s dialogue. Highly recommended by myself and Room 5.

This app is not an ebook but I was so impressed with it I felt it deserved our attention. A nifty support for teaching digital citizenship including search techniques (using Google), safe passwords, acknowledging the work of others and more I haven’t played with yet. The app is FREE and well worth adding to your collection. Definitely suitable for Years 7&8 in spite of the age suggestion.

Explore the world’s most famous diary in this richly immersive experience for iPad2 and above.
• 21 video clips from Academy Award winning documentary-maker Jon Blair
• Over 40 audio clips, including commentary from Miep Gies, one of the helpers who risked her life to aid Anne and her family in hiding
• Exclusive access to the archive of the Anne Frank Fonds, founded by Anne’s father Otto Frank, including previously unreleased material
‘The Diary of a Young Girl’ by Anne Frank for iPad is the remarkable edition of ‘one of the greatest books of the century’.
In the summer of 1942, fleeing the horrors of the Nazi occupation, Anne Frank and her family were forced into hiding in the back of an Amsterdam warehouse. Aged thirteen when she went into the Secret Annexe, Anne kept a diary in which she confided her innermost thoughts and feelings. An intimate record of adolescence and heartbreak, courage and inspiration, ‘The Diary of a Young Girl’ by Anne Frank for iPad offers stunning new ways to explore Anne’s world, what it looked, sounded and felt like living in hiding and what, in turn, was happening outside the Annexe walls.
‘The Diary of a Young Girl’ by Anne Frank for iPad is published by Penguin Books UK and Beyond the Story.
At last, something of superb quality for more mature readers. This is a stunning presentation of Anne Frank’s diary and life. Although it costs $13.99 I think it should be on every school ipad especially in the libraries. This app takes ebooks to a new level of quality and I look forward to the response to it from Anne Frank readers.

Lucas Remmerswaal felt the pain during the financial crisis of 2008. He saw the hopelessness, regret, despair and tears in the eyes of retired people that had lost their life’s savings. “What can I do about this tragedy?” haunted Remmerswaal for 2 years. His answer I can share Warren Buffett’s good Habits with children.” Inspired by Buffett’s MBA speeches, example and wisdom. – The tale of Tortoise Buffett and Trader Hare is the first in a series of books that is a tribute to Warren Buffett on his 80th Birthday.
Teachers will welcome this concise and witty tale:
“A child will want to pick this up. I don’t care if they are 8 years old, 18 years old or 80 years old.” Beth Black The Bookworm, Omaha.
“This is a story about a man who went from nothing to enormously successful based on a series of principles. Lucas did not come to me and say “I’ve got a story about a Billionaire” He came and said “I’ve got a story about how a person became that on the basis of these habits and these principles”. “It’s a winner!” – John Hattie Professor of Education, Director Visible Learning labs.
It’s great fun for kids of all ages and helps with financial literacy, habits and principles.
There’s not much around to help promote good savings habits and this app supports that using a well-recognised story. It’s free and the downloadable PDF is a bonus ebook. Should be a definite addition to school iPads.
